They have a reason to smile! Our colleague Antje and Sport Förg’s managing director Christoph Schmid accepted the Store of the Year 2018 award in the category “Out of Line” in Berlin. Three shops were nominated in this category – and yes, we did it. “Our” Sport Förg is at the top of the winner’s podium. “Förg scored the most points with a ski simulator and the built-in gym. The company takes a pioneering approach that goes beyond the mere selling of products”, according to the jury. Hallelujah, that’s a reason to celebrate. After all, we planned the Förg from the ground up and fully implemented it as a general contractor – including the shop fittings. Simply everything was done by us. And so what could better than to receive such a great award.
We had only just digested the first happy news of the evening when there was a second surprise: The Marc O’Polo Beach Casino was awarded the special prize. According to the jury, the reason is the perfect utilisation of a beach casino (a protected building), which superbly showcases the brand. An award-winning chef brings glamour to the in-house restaurant. And our job was: shopfitting, furniture development and delivery. Our great chairs. Stools and armchairs can be bought directly from the concept store!
The “Stores of the Year” award of the German Retail Association (HDE) honours outstanding and innovative retailers who converted or redesigned their shop within the past year. A jury of experts from trading companies and institutions chose the winners. The assessment criteria included degree of innovation, customer benefits and value creation potential. Around 50 retail companies applied this year.
